The 3rd Rumelia International Congress of Social Sciences has started in Tirana, organized by the University of Rumelia in Istanbul and welcomed by New York University in Tirana (UNYT), a university of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, reports Anadolu.
At the opening ceremony at the premises of the UNYT campus was also the ambassador of Turkey in Tirana, Baris Ceyhun Erciyes, who in his speech expressed that he thinks that this congress will be very useful.
The Turkish ambassador considered the relations between Turkey and Albania as very comprehensive.
“We have very close relations with Albania. With the common vision of our president (Recep Tayyip Erdogan) and Prime Minister Edi Rama, we have common goals for the future of our relations. We are allies and strategic partners with Albania. There is a very strong historical background that has enabled the development of these relations. Our business people are very active here. We are very strong in the field of education. As you can see today, we have very strong cooperation in the field of health”, said Erciyes, speaking about the relations between the two countries.
Emphasizing that when they see Albania today, he said that it is going through a very serious process of change.
“The process of joining the European Union is progressing rapidly, but in addition, it is also undergoing very rapid changes in the fields of energy, economy, connectivity and tourism. Of course, this change will be reflected in our bilateral relations and will have an impact on the region as well,” said the Turkish ambassador.
The acting rector of UNYT, Prof. Assoc Ilir Kalemaj, rector of the University of Rumelia in Istanbul, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara and the vice president of the Turkish Internet Media Association (TIMBIR), Rifat Sait.
According to the organizers, the congress that will continue until June 5 aims to encourage the exchange of knowledge between researchers and academics in the social sciences, address current issues in this field and promote international cooperation and cultural exchange.
