Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, discussed by phone on Tuesday the latest diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and maintaining stability in the region, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, reports Anadolu.
A statement from the Ministry said the two ministers exchanged views on regional developments and ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at easing tensions in the East. Medium.
Earlier in the day, Araghchi also held a phone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, where they discussed recent regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions.
Tensions in the region have risen since the US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, with Tehran retaliating by striking targets in Israel and US allies in the Gulf. Persian Gulf, as well as closing the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire came into effect on April 8 brokered by Pakistan, but subsequent talks in Islamabad did not produce a lasting agreement.
