Medications
The doctor also warned that the cause of fatigue can sometimes be hidden in the medicines that a person takes regularly. That’s why, he says, he always checks the therapy of patients who complain of fatigue.
“Medications such as sedatives, antipsychotics, opioids, anticonvulsants, antihistamines and beta-blockers are common examples of drugs that can cause persistent fatigue,” he explained.

Dr. Khan noted that nutritional deficiencies can also lead to fatigue. He cited iron deficiency, anemia, low levels of vitamins D and B12, and folate deficiency as the most common problems in his practice.
He added that eating disorders that lead to malnutrition can also play a role, as well as excess body weight.
The doctor stresses that it is important to treat the underlying cause of fatigue, especially if the fatigue is unexplained or occurs with troubling symptoms.
“All underlying causes of fatigue should be addressed, and any unexplained fatigue or fatigue accompanied by troubling symptoms such as weight loss should always be investigated,” he concluded.
