The police have given details about the explosion in Prizren, announcing that it was caused by a hand grenade.

The police spokesman for the Prizren region, Shaqir Bytyqi, told Klankosova.tv that the complainants and witnesses stated that while they were asleep they were awakened by the sound of two explosions.

“On 16.06.2026, around 03:30, the Police it was announced about an explosion on “Brigada 128″ street in Prizren, which caused a lot of noise. Police units immediately went to the scene and contacted the complainants and witnesses, who stated that while they were asleep they were woken up by the sound of two explosions,” he said.

Bytyqi also announced that as a result of the explosion, a car was engulfed in fire, while the facade of a home.

However, apart from material damage, no injured persons were reported.

In the confirmation for Klankosova.tv, Bytyqi stated that it is suspected that the explosion was caused by a hand grenade.

“As a result of the explosion, a car owned by one victim was engulfed in fire, while the facade of another victim’s house was also damaged. Apart from material damage, no injured persons were reported. From the initial examination of the scene, it is suspected that the explosion was caused by a hand grenade,” he said.

According to the complainants, the total value of the material damage is considerable, while the police declare that the motives of the case are still unknown.

“Police patrols, guardian investigators, the Police Explosive Device Handling Unit, as well as superior police supervisors have been notified at the scene The State Prosecutor, by whose order the case “Causing general danger” was initiated, said Bytyqi.
