Monday, July 6th 2026

Neymar has ended his career with the Brazilian National Team, announcing his retirement from international football after elimination in the World Cup.

The 34-year-old striker made this decision immediately after the 2-1 loss to Norway in the round of 16, a match that turned out to be his last with the Brazil jersey, writes 04 Online.

“I tried. I tried. It started here at the MetLife Stadium and it’s over now,” Neymar declared after the match.

Although Brazil was eliminated, he ended his last appearance with a penalty goal. Neymar leaves as the best scorer in the history of Brazil, with 80 goals in 129 games, after four participations in the World Cup.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti had returned to the national team after a three-year absence, but Brazil’s journey was stopped by Norway, thanks to two goals from Erling Haaland.

With the departure of Neymar, one of the most important chapters in the history of the National Team of Brazil is closed. Brazil./04 Online/
