The Acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, has stated that the Kosovo Security Force is expected to reach full operational capacity in 2029, when according to him it will be ready for the protection of the country’s territory, the support of civil authorities and participation in international missions.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Maqedonci said that the transformation process of the KSF is taking place according to the 10-year plan approved by the Assembly of Kosovo on December 14, 2018, while its completion is foreseen for 2028.

“It was approved on December 14, 2018 by the Assembly. During this phase we had a transition plan, which we are now finalizing. The year 2028 is foreseen. We have managed to exceed many of the objectives, both in terms of equipment, not only in quantity, but also in the types of weaponry, because we were limited in that plan,” said Maqedonci.

According to him, the investments made during the last years have made the KSF exceed the objectives foreseen in the initial plan, especially in terms of equipment and weaponry.

“We are at the end of the plan for achieving operational capacities. We plan to have a force ready to defend the territory, support the civil authorities and participate in missions. international”, declared the acting Minister of Defense.
