Azerbaijan informs the Deputy Secretary of NATO on the normalization with Armenia

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed NATO Deputy/Secretary General Radmilla Shekerinska today about the ongoing process of normalization between his country and Armenia, reports Anadolu.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the matter was discussed during a meeting between the two officials in Baku, noting that Bayramov informed Shekerinska about diplomatic efforts and building measures. confidence undertaken to ensure “sustainable peace” in the region, as well as regional transport and connectivity projects.

“During the meeting, the current cooperation agenda and perspectives within the partnership between Azerbaijan and NATO, the work carried out within the partnership mechanisms as well as regional and international security issues were discussed,” the statement said.

It is further stated that both sides noted the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, emphasizing that the dialogue and cooperation that are being carried out within their existing partnership “contribute positively to regional security”.

“Our country’s experience in participating in NATO peace support operations and missions, close support for the processes in Afghanistan, defense reforms and the work done to ensure adequacy were appreciated”, the statement says.

The possibilities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO in demining, cyber security and other areas, while an exchange of views was also held on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.

NATO announced on Monday that Shekerinska will pay a two-day visit to Baku starting on Wednesday, where she will meet with the Speaker of the Parliament, Sahiba Gafarova, and Elchin Amirbayov, the representative of President Ilham Aliyev on duties of special.
