Multiple sclerosis, the disease that affects the central nervous system by attacking the protective membrane of nerve fibers in the brain, is increasing significantly, so much so that it is now being noticed in children and 50-year-olds.

“It has a prevalence of 90 per 100,000 inhabitants”, said Altin Kuqo, a neurologist.

Multiple sclerosis cannot be cured, but if it is not treated in time, the patient becomes disabled within 5 years. The neurologist explains the first signs.

“Double vision, numbness of the hands that lasts, fatigue, difficulty climbing the stairs”, he said.

But what are the factors that influence the occurrence of multiple sclerosis?

“Genetics and environmental, stress and inflammation of the brain”, said the doctor.

Multiple sclerosis affects people of active working age. Earlier it appeared in the age group of 20-40 years, but now it is found in even younger ages. Doctors appeal for early diagnosis.
