Chelsea are continuing their interest in the transfer of midfielder Granit Xhaka and are expected to come back with a new offer after the first offer was rejected by Sunderland.

The London club are preparing a second proposal for the midfielder, who is currently part of Sunderland’s plans but under no pressure to sell.

The initial offer of around £8 million has been rejected by the English club, who are not bound to allow the player to leave at this stage of the market.

However, according to the same reports, Xhaka is said to have expressed a desire for a transfer to Chelsea, where he would be reunited with coach Xabi Alonso, making his situation one of the most followed topics of the transfer window.
