The Kosovo Business Alliance (AKB), based on the study carried out during the period 28 May – 28 June 2026, finds that the citizens of Kosovo continue to be the biggest investors and consumers of tourism in Albania.
The study of the AKB, which includes five consecutive weekends, shows that on average about 25 thousand citizens from Kosovo spend the weekend in Albania.
During a stay of 2-3 nights, they spend on average at least 300 euros per person, including accommodation, gastronomy, drinks, transport, oil derivatives, road tax, entertainment and shopping.
Based on these data, it results that every weekend the citizens of Kosovo spend about 7.5 million euros in the Albanian economy. Based on the tourist season May 1 – October 30, 2026, which includes 26 weekends, it results that the total expenses amount to about 195 million euros, only from weekend visits, not including vacations of several days or weeks during the summer.
AKB estimates that these figures clearly prove that Kosovo is the most important partner and market for Albanian tourism, making a direct contribution to the development of hotels, gastronomy, trade, transport and other service sectors.
The Kosovar Business Alliance considers that it is time for this economic cooperation to be deepened through joint investments in tourism, improving infrastructure, facilitating the movement of citizens, creating joint tourist offers and policies that promote investments between Kosovo and Albania.
Tourism is not only an economic sector, but also a bridge that strengthens national ties, economic development and the well-being of citizens in both states.
Agim Shahini, Chairman of the Kosovar Alliance of Businesses (AKB), stated that our study clearly proves that the citizens of Kosovo are the biggest supporters of Albanian tourism. About 195 million euros that are spent only during the 26 weekends of the May-October season constitute an extraordinary contribution to the economy of Albania. This is an economic partnership that must be valued, supported and further developed through joint policies, strategic investments and the creation of even more favorable conditions for the free movement of citizens and businesses. When Albanian tourism wins, businesses and citizens on both sides of the border also win.
