The police officer R.G, 59 years old, who was fatally shot at the border crossing point in Vërmica, was patrolling on foot.

While trying to cross the road, he was hit by a car driven by a citizen of Albania, which, according to the Police, was moving at a higher speed in the road conditions.

“The accident happened while the policeman was patrolling on foot near the border crossing point. and at one point he tried to cross the road. At that moment, a vehicle came from the direction of Prizren – Vërmica, which, not adjusting the speed to the road conditions, hit the victim with the front part of the vehicle. As a result, the pedestrian died at the scene.

By order of the prosecutor, the body was sent to the IML for an autopsy, while the driver of the suspected vehicle, D.D. male, a citizen of the Republic of Albania, has been detained for 48 hours.

The case is referred to the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prizren.
