The Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate within the Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Trade (MINT), together with the Tax Administration of Kosovo (ATK) and the Competition Authority, went to the field on Friday to inspect the points of sale of oil derivatives, in order to verify the implementation of the decision on price regulation.

KosovaPress was present at one of the three points derivatives where the controls were carried out.

By the decision of the Minister, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, pushed by developments in the international market, oil prices cannot be higher than 1.54 euros per liter, while those for gasoline have a maximum price of 1.36 euros.

Inspector Shkëndije Bajrami-Azizi said that inspections are being carried out continuously throughout the territory of Kosovo, and that price monitoring is also done on a daily basis.

“The Market Surveillance Inspectorate within the Ministry of Trade, in cooperation with the Tax Administration Inspectorate and the Competition Authority, have carried out regular inspections in connection with the implementation of the decision of MINT on the adjustment of oil prices for wholesalers and retailers”, declared Bajrami-Azizi.

She added that the inspectorate is conducting continuous monitoring of the derivatives market, while decisions on potential violations are made only after a complete analysis of the data.

“Decisions of the Central Market Supervision Inspectorate on the violation of the commercial margin are made only after receiving the report from the Tax Administration. If we encounter a violation, then the market supervision inspectorate continues with the initiation of procedures for misdemeanors”, she emphasized.

According to the inspector, the main purpose of these inspections is to protect the consumer and ensuring that traders respect the decision to limit the prices of derivatives.

She informed that even before the issuance of the last decision by the ministry, daily monitoring of oil price movements in the market was done. Besides, now the inspection is done together with the Tax Administration of Kosovo and the Competition Authority.

Meanwhile, the point manager of a derivatives company in the Arbëria neighborhood in Pristina, Ardian Buleshkaj, said that currently the prices are in accordance with the decision of the institutions.

“At the moment, at our point, the retail price for a liter of diesel goes to 1.49 euros, while the price of the majority goes 1.46. Gasoline is around 1.30-1.31 euros, depending on the changes that occur day by day.

He emphasized that prices in Kosovo are mainly influenced by movements in the international markets Buleshkaj.

As for inspections by the inspectorate, he said that the company he works for has had constant visits from supervisory institutions. He added that currently the prices at the company’s points are the same, although they usually adjust depending on the competition and the location of the points.
