Drenas: The Police and the Special Prosecutor’s Office demand the clarification of war crimes

The Director General of the Kosovo Police, Colonel Gazmend Hoxha, together with representatives of the Special Prosecutor’s Office and other security institutions, have visited the villages of Abri e Epërme and Poklek i Vjetër in the municipality of Drenas, places where during the war In Kosovo, some of the most serious massacres against the Albanian civilian population were committed.

According to the announcement of the Kosovo Police, the visit was carried out on July 16, 2026, where the victims of the crimes committed against the civilians of innocent.

During the war, in these two localities, the Serbian military, police and paramilitary forces brutally killed and massacred 82 defenseless civilians, including women, children and the elderly, according to the Police announcement.

Of these victims, 23 were killed in Abri in Epërme, while 59 in Poklek e Vjetër.

The institutional delegation, in which, in addition to director Hoxha, the prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Ilir Morina, the director of the Department of Investigations Agron Nezaj and the director of the Directorate for the Investigation of Crimes took part of the War Bashkim Spahiu, met with the family members of the victims, Imer Deliu and Fadil Muqolli.

During the meeting, the family members shared their testimonies and stories about the tragic events, while the institutional representatives expressed their solidarity and support for the families of of the murderers.

They re-emphasized the joint commitment to the full disclosure of these macabre crimes and bringing the perpetrators to justice, the Kosovo Police announced.

The police emphasized that they remain committed to coordination with the Special Prosecutor’s Office and other competent institutions, to continue the investigation and documentation of war crimes. Regardless of the time that has passed, any evidence and any information is treated with the utmost seriousness, with the aim of identifying and prosecuting those responsible for these crimes. criminally and to face justice, says the announcement.
