The Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, visited on Thursday the location in the village of Kalludër i Vogël in the municipality of Zubin Potok, where excavations are taking place in the context of suspicions of a mass grave from the last war in Kosovo.

There she was accompanied by the ministers in office, Saranda Bogujevci and Andin Hoti.

Speaking on the third day of the works in this location, she said that the remains found in this area have been confirmed to be of human origin, while she requested that the integrity of the investigations be preserved and that the families of the missing persons be respected.

“Now what has been confirmed is that the remains are of human origin. Now we have to wait for the work of the competent institutions for examinations and identification. What is important to emphasize is that each of us, the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, including the media, must take care to we maintain the integrity of the investigations, because this is a very sensitive issue, and we also have consideration for the families who are waiting for information about what is happening in this area”, Haxhiu said.

Haxhiu further accused the leadership of Serbia of hiding war crimes, including the bodies of the killed Albanians.

“What I must also emphasize is that the persons who disappeared violently during the war in Kosovo, i.e. during the last war in Kosovo, are the biggest wound we are still facing today. So, despite the fact that more than 24 years have passed since the war, we are facing the consequences of that war. For as long as there is a maximum effort to understand where the disappeared persons are, we continue to face hate speech, with chauvinistic rhetoric, and also with territorial claims against the Republic of Kosovo, whether from Vucic or here from “There can be no peace between Kosovo and Serbia as long as we have hidden cemeteries, as long as we have closed archives and as long as we have denial of the truth on the part of Serbia. In this case, I also call on the international partners to put pressure on Serbia to open the archives,” she said. with the bodies of many Albanian civilians killed during the war.

The biggest case is the disappearance without a trace of a group of 23 men, known as the “Group of Intellectuals”, most of them from Mitrovica. They were stopped on April 19 by Serbian forces in the area while they were leaving for Montenegro, and no trace of them was found.
