Iranian president orders internet access restored to pre-protest levels

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian today ordered internet service to be restored to the level it was before the protests that erupted in the country in January, the Mehr news agency reported. extensive internet restrictions and temporary blackouts across the country during the unrest, aimed at restricting communications and the distribution of protest-related content.

Iranian officials said 3,117 people were killed during the protests, while some human rights organizations have estimated the death toll may have reached as high as 7,000.

Iranian authorities have acknowledged the public outcry but accused the United States of America and Israel are trying to exploit the unrest through sanctions and pressure, with the aim of fomenting instability and justifying foreign intervention and regime change.
