The Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that the return of former Serbian prosecutors and former judges, who resigned from the institutions of Kosovo at the end of 2022, can only be done in accordance with the Constitution and legislation in force.

At the Government meeting, Kurti said that the removal of members of the Serbian community from the institutions was a politically organized action and an act of sabotage towards of the state.

“The organized and politically motivated abandonment of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo by members of the Serbian community at the end of 2022 was the starting point of a series of sabotaging actions against the state. Since then we have appealed to all Serbs in the institutions: ‘Don’t abandon them, don’t resign, don’t go!’. But we have no constitutional and legal right to tell them: ‘Come back!’. Their departure was a political act, individual, although organized, but the return is a legal and constitutional issue”, stated Kurti.

He emphasized that no return process can be above the Constitution and the law, adding that the responsible institutions have already dealt with their resignations.

“There can be no return that overlaps with the constitutionality and the law, especially when the abandonment was an act of sabotaging the legality and constitutionality. These resignations have been dealt with earlier by the Kosovo Police, while days ago the Council also dealt with them Prosecutorial. We expected the Judicial Council of Kosovo to act in the same way, but the meeting failed due to lack of quorum. We expect that this issue will also be concluded in the next meeting.
