The Basic Court in Pristina has found the former mayor of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, guilty of not correctly declaring his assets, sentencing him to two years in prison and a 5 thousand euro fine.

The verdict was announced on Friday by the president of the court, Judge Leon Perlaska. The prison sentence will be executed after the full force of the judgment, while the fine must be paid within three months from the full force of the decision, reports “Oath for Justice”.

In addition to the main sentence, Ahmeti was obliged to pay 100 euros for the court fee and 100 euros for the Victim Compensation Fund.

The court rejected the proposal of the Special Prosecutor’s Office. for the confiscation of undeclared assets in the amount of 172 thousand 600 euros.

At the hearing of the announcement of the verdict, only Ahmeti’s defense attorney, lawyer Arbër Istrefi, was present.

According to the indictment filed by the Special Prosecutor’s Office in December 2025, Ahmeti, during the time he was the mayor of the Municipality of Pristina, from 2018 to 2022, he was accused of not having correctly declared his wealth to the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.

The prosecution claimed that he had not declared 118 thousand 200 euros deposited in his personal accounts, as well as 54 thousand 400 euros received in his mother’s accounts, bringing the total amount of undeclared funds to 172 thousand 600 euros.

Ahmeti was accused of the criminal offense “Non-reporting or false reporting of wealth, income, gifts, other material benefit or financial obligations”, according to the Criminal Code of Kosovo.
