The acting president, Albulena Haxhiu has announced that on August 6 at 10:00 a.m. the constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo will be held.
Haxhiu made this known in a media conference.
She said that she had not hurriedly invited the constitutive session because there is still no agreement on the issue of the president.
“Due to this connection between the constitution of the Assembly and the procedure for electing the president, I have carefully evaluated every step that has been taken during these weeks. I have welcomed the invitations for meetings by the Prime Minister and the chairman of the LVV, and I have closely followed the efforts to reach an agreement. As you know, two meetings have been held so far, one with the PDK and one with the LDK, but the Alliance has not responded to the invitation for a meeting,” she said. since there is still no political agreement on the issue of the president, he has decided not to call the constitutive session immediately after the certification, but to use the deadline allowed by the constitution to create the necessary space for political parties to dialogue and build a consensus.
“Therefore, today I have decided that the constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo will be held on August 6, Thursday, at 10:00 a.m.,” he said
The Acting President, Albulena Haxhiu said that until then it remains the political and institutional obligation of the parliamentary subjects to continue the dialogue.
“The dialogue between them should not be seen by anyone as a sign of weakness, but as evidence of democratic responsibility. In a parliamentary democracy, the responsibility for building institutions is not exclusive to anyone, but belongs to everyone. The agreement requires readiness and seriousness from all parties”, she said. she.
