Massive Russian attacks on the capital of Ukraine and other regions, at least 8 killed

At least eight people were killed and dozens injured today in a massive Russian missile and drone attack in the Ukrainian capital and other regions, Anadolu reports.

In the city of Dnipro, several residential buildings were hit by missiles and drones, killing at least five people and injuring 25 others, regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha said on Telegram.

Meanwhile, the head of the Kyiv city military administration, Tymur Tkachenko said on Telegram that three people were killed and 29 others wounded in the attacks.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that many neighborhoods have lost electricity during the ongoing Russian attack.

Thousands of people sought shelter in the capital as massive clouds of smoke rose from the city center. Air raid alerts were activated in much of Ukraine.

Amid the attack, Poland’s Air Force said on US social media company X that it has mobilized aircraft to protect Polish airspace.

Ukraine’s Air Force issued warnings of missile threats while authorities in Kiev warned of the presence of drones in Ukrainian airspace.

The Kyiv city military administration said on Telegram that Russian drones are operating over Ukraine and called on residents to take shelter. It also reported activity involving Russian strategic aircraft and the launch of cruise missiles from enemy naval vessels.

Kiev officials announced that an air raid alert had been activated in the capital due to the threat posed by Russian attack drones. The Air Force said that multiple groups of drones are moving through different regions of the country.

The military further warned of possible ballistic missile attacks. Overnight, air strike alerts were in effect across much of Ukraine, according to the national alert map.

Earlier overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force said Russian forces had fired Kalibr cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea toward Ukraine.
