The Russian nuclear energy agency “Rosatom” today called on Europe to help reduce tensions around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the state news agency Tass reported, Anadolu broadcasts.
The general director of “Rosatom”, Alexey Likhachev said that the situation around the plant is “at a point of no return”.
“All of Europe must intensify its efforts now to reduce the tension around the Power Plant.” Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant,” he said, adding that it “is moving very quickly to the point of no return”.
Likhachev emphasized that the escalation in the nuclear power plant poses a danger to the Eastern European countries.
“Everything is close, all the borders of the Eastern European countries are literally hundreds of kilometers from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. And I would like to emphasize that this game with fire is primarily dangerous for the countries of Eastern Europe,” he added.
The situation around the plant, Europe’s largest nuclear power plant and one of the world’s 10 largest, remains tense as concerns persist over a possible nuclear disaster, with Moscow and Kiev frequently accusing each other of attacks around the facility.
Since September 2022, International Atomic Energy Agency personnel have been present at each other’s plant, which has been under Russian control since March 2022.
