The Chief of the General Staff of the Army of North Macedonia, Major General Sashko Llafciski, participated in the regular meeting of the NATO Military Committee in the form of the Chiefs of General Staff of NATO member countries and partner countries, reports Anadolu.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Alliance in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium.
According to the announcement by the General Staff of Army, at the meeting, which was chaired by the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the current security situation, the strengthening of deterrence and the collective defense of the Alliance, the continuation of investments in defense, the increase of military production, the continuous support for Ukraine as well as the cooperation between the EU and NATO were discussed.
In his speech, the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte emphasized the importance of maintaining unity of allies, readiness and ability to face contemporary security challenges.
“At the meeting, in separate sessions, the commander of the Supreme Allied Command for Europe (SACEUR), General Alexus Grynkewich, as well as the commander of the Supreme Allied Command for Transformation (SACT), Admiral Pierre Vandier, gave speeches, who informed the Chiefs of General Staff about current activities, NATO’s readiness and processes transformative in the Alliance”, says the announcement.
– General Lafçiski emphasized the commitment of the Army to regional and collective security
The announcement states that General Llafçiski took an active part in discussions related to global security challenges, interoperability, the readiness of the Alliance for prevention and protection as well as cooperation with partner countries.
“In his presentation, General Llafçiski emphasized the commitment of the Army to regional and collective security through participation in international missions, operations and NATO activities, including the NATO mission in Kosovo (KFOR), the ‘ALTHEA’ operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the ‘Forward Land Forces – FLF’ activity in Bulgaria and Romania,” the announcement states.
Also, the announcement states that the importance of the national exercise “Blesok 26” and the evaluation of the Battalion’s Light Infantry Group was emphasized in the meeting (LPBG), as the primary objective of NATO’s capacities, as well as the ongoing processes of modernization and equipment of the Army in the direction of strengthening its operational readiness.

On the sidelines of the meeting, General Llafciski held a bilateral meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Federal Republic of Germany, General-Lieutenant Colonel Carsten Breuer, where they discussed the support to Ukraine, the future of the Military Committee and the Alliance, as well as the possibilities for further deepening of bilateral military cooperation, modernization and equipment.
In the framework of the visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, General Llafciski also held a meeting with the members of the Army stationed at the National Military Representation of the Republic of North Macedonia at the NATO headquarters in Brussels.
