The opposition party “Left” has accused Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government of fomenting war in Iran through arms exports to Israel.
“The profit-making interests of the military-industrial complex never serve the cause of peace, neither in the Middle East nor elsewhere. On the contrary, they instigate wars that claim countless lives and can cost entire nations their economic prosperity,” he said. the deputy from the “Left”, Ulrich Thoden, who called for an immediate and complete ban on arms exports to Israel.
As the German news agency (dpa) reports, citing the Ministry of Economy, after a parliamentary question by Thoden, while the German constitution prohibits arms exports to war zones, the government has authorized arms shipments to Israel during the first weeks of the war in Iran.
