At the Basic Court in Ferizaj, the trial of the accused for the murder of the Kosovo Police sergeant, Muhamet Lika, has started.
At the beginning of the session, all the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges against them, while the process continued with the opening statements of the parties.
The prosecutor of the case, Ismet Rrahmani, stated that the Prosecution will testify through video recordings. witness testimony and other material evidence that the killing of Sergeant Lika was the result of a well-organized plan and the cooperation of all the defendants.
According to him, the evidence will show that each of the accused had a certain role in the execution of the criminal offense and that their actions were not random.
“Based on the video recordings, it will be proven that the defendants in accomplices, by taking certain actions, were participants by helping the minor Rejhan Bela. The coordination, movements and actions of each defendant prove that it was not a matter of chance, but of a pre-prepared plan aimed at killing Sergeant Muhamet Lika,” said the prosecutor.
He added that the testimonies of the residents of the facility where the crime took place, other witnesses and the footage of the security cameras will support the Prosecution’s claims about the manner how the murder was organized and carried out.
According to the prosecutor, the video recordings show that Haki Bela had followed Sergeant Lika’s movements since he left the police station and returned to the vicinity of the scene a few minutes after the murder.
However, Rilind Murat was said to have been seen leaving together with the minor Rejhan Bela after the crime was committed, while Vatan Çaka, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, was seen in their company observing the place of the event before the murder took place.
The prosecutor also said that Edmond Lika and Shkëlqim Kuka had followed the victim’s movements from the police station to the vicinity of his apartment, moving in different vehicles towards the place where the murder was committed.
As for the accused Diamant Gashi, the prosecution claims that he helped the minor Rejhan Bela after the crime was committed, sheltered and supplied with food and other things, which, according to her, has also been confirmed through wiretapping.
Prosecutor Rrahmani emphasized that during the trial, video recordings, photographs, witness statements, the autopsy report, seized shells and other material evidence will be presented, which, according to him, prove that Sergeant Muhamet Lika died as a result of gunshot wounds.
Process the judiciary is expected to continue with the administration of evidence and the hearing of witnesses proposed by the Prosecution.
