The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Ferizaj has announced that it has launched investigations against three people, suspected of several criminal offences, including abuse of official position, falsification of documents and the legalization of false content.

In the announcement, it is said that by decision of the State Prosecutor from the Department of Serious Crimes, a decision was taken to start investigations, while by order of the Basic Court in Ferizaj, a control was carried out in houses and premises accompanying the suspects. After that, the three persons were detained for 48 hours.

According to the prosecution body, the suspects are being investigated for the criminal offenses of “Misuse of official position or authority in complicity in helping”, “Forgery of documents” in complicity and “Legalization of false content”, according to the relevant provisions of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

Regarding the legal defense, two of the defendants have not committed lawyers, therefore by verbal order of the prosecutor, the relevant unit has been requested to notify the Kosovo Bar Association of the appointment of ex officio lawyers.

However, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, the coordinating office of the Chamber in Pristina has initially requested additional data, including the names of the defendants and criminal offenses, before sending the defenders. In this regard, the State Prosecutor has warned of the possible consequences in case of non-implementation of the requirements, stressing that such delays can hinder the development of the investigative procedure.
