United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday that the amphibious assault ship USS Rushmore is conducting blockade operations against Iran in the Arabian Sea.
In a statement released on Platform X, CENTCOM announced that Sailors and Marines aboard the ship are conducting missions in the area as part of these operations.
In a separate post, the command added that the guided-missile destroyer USS Pinckney is conducting intensive patrols in support of the operations, noting that the blockade has halted commercial maritime traffic to and from Iran.
These developments come after Iran’s decision to close the Strait of Hormuz again on Saturday. Tehran also announced that control over this strategic route has been restored to its previous status, under the strict supervision of the Iranian armed forces, while most ships passing through its territorial waters will have to pay tolls. /message
