The 7th-generation deepwater drilling vessel Yildirim passed through the Bosphorus Strait, Anadolu reports.

The vessel, whose construction was completed in South Korea in 2024 and can drill up to 12,000 meters in deep waters, was added to the inventory as part of Turkey’s increased exploration and drilling capabilities in its seas.
The upper part of the drilling rig was dismantled because the vessel, which has a helipad and facilities accommodation for 200 people, had to pass through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits to reach the Filyos Port in Zonguldak.
Once the Yıldırım ship, which is assigned to the Black Sea duty, docks at the Filyos Port, the drilling platform will be reassembled and the ship will be ready for exploration and production operations in the Black Sea.
