Pakistan’s prime minister heads to Riyadh and Ankara to seek US-Iran talks

Wednesday, April 15th 2026

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has announced that he will visit Riyadh and Ankara this week, as part of efforts to mediate a second round of talks between the US and Iran.

According to official statements, Sharif intends to coordinate with regional partners to encourage the continuation of negotiations, while the situation seems to be gaining momentum after signals for the resumption of dialogue.

The president of Pakistan’s Asif Ali Zardari said he has been briefed on these diplomatic efforts and supports the initiative to secure further talks.

The developments come at a time when a two-week ceasefire has halted US and Israeli attacks on Iran, creating space for diplomatic efforts.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has stated that talks could resume in Pakistan within the next two days. /message
