The Basic Court in Pristina issued today a sentence of life imprisonment against Bllagoje Spasojevic and Vladimir Tolliq, who were found guilty of the terrorist attack in Banjska. The third accused, Dushan Maksimović, was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The Director General of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, called the court’s decision right.

In an interview for KosovaPress, immediately after this decision, he said that despite today’s verdict, justice is not complete without all those involved in the terrorist attack in Banjska in Zveçan, on September 24, being punished. 2023.

“We appreciate that the courts have performed their duty. It was a process, I think, fair and just, because this is how the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are built. Now let’s see if there will be an appeal against this court verdict. Surely the lawyers will appeal. However, this is a fair decision for us and we hope that other people who are involved in this process, in the case of Banjska, will be arrested as soon as possible and surrender to our security institutions, because the Banjska process is not complete and justice does not receive its full verdict without punishing all those who took part in the battle of Banjska, those who were a terrorist group led by Radoicic and supported, financed, trained and politically both from the logistical and political aspects by the Government of Serbia”, declared Hoxha.

The Director General of Police said that greater pressure is needed the international community to Serbia for handing over to Kosovo also the other accused in this case.

“I think this is a step, a good step towards complete justice. However, as I said earlier, justice will be achieved when all those who were involved, including the main criminal who led this terrorist criminal group, Radoiçiqi, will be behind bars and receive the deserved punishment. Otherwise, this is only, this is only a step first, it remains a very big job, but in this case we need a lot of pressure from the international community and I believe our institutions, so that until they do not surrender, we will not stop demanding that they answer before our justice institutions”, he added.

Gazmend Hoxha said that September 24, 2023 was a difficult day for the Republic of Kosovo.

“It was a very difficult day for the Republic of Kosovo, September 24 2023. I estimate that it was the most serious attack that has happened to Kosovo since the post-war period until today, not overlooking the Ibër Lepenci attack, but this was a direct serious attack on our citizenship, on our sovereignty, on our security institutions, with the aim of annexing that part of Kosovo and creating a new order, a new reality, where there would be a reign of terrorists in that area. However, I appreciate that The Kosovo Police, our security institutions, and especially our policemen who were on the ground that day, have done an excellent job, defeating and triumphing over this terrorist group, defeating the group militarily, politically as well, in many other aspects, it proved that our institutions are mature, democratic institutions and by totally restoring control in the northern part of Kosovo and defeating and arresting these people who are being tried today, and completely clearing the ground that that day was created a very serious situation for our institutions”, he added.

As a result of the terrorist attack in Banjska i Zveçani, 50-year-old sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed while three other policemen were injured.
