Albania has successfully completed the intermediate milestones for the Foundation group in the European Union membership process, it was announced during the 8th Albania-EU Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels, reports Anadolu.
At the joint press conference after the meeting, the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, the Commissioner for the Enlargement of the European Union Marta Kos and the Deputy Minister for European Affairs of the Greek Administration of Cyprus participated. South, Marilena Raouna.
Edi Rama declared that Albania has opened all the negotiating chapters within 11 months and that the process is in an advanced stage. He said that the country has moved to a stage where the negotiations represent “the beginning of the end” and that the responsibility has increased.
He also said that there have been economic improvements, including the increase in GDP and average wages in the public and private sectors, as well as the strengthening of institutions and the justice system.
However, Marta Kos supported Albania’s vision of closing the negotiations by the end of 2027 and praised the country’s progress in the process of integration.
“We continue to support the objective or vision of Albania to close the negotiations by the end of 2027”, she said.
The European Commissioner said that Albania has successfully met the intermediate milestones for the group chapter of the Founders and that this enables the country to move forward towards further steps in the negotiations.
On the other hand, Raouna praised Albania’s progress and emphasized that this paves the way for the start of development the provisional closure of the negotiating chapters after the fulfillment of other conditions.
She emphasized that the enlargement process is a strategic priority and that Albania has shown commitment to the implementation of reforms.
