At the Basic Court in Pejë, the trial of the three accused for the triple murder in Gllogjan, which happened in 2021, continued.

In today’s session, the continuation of the presentation of the final words is planned, while in the previous session, the prosecutor Sahide Gashi requested life imprisonment for the three accused, who are accused of murdering three people, including two minor.

The students who were on the bus at the time of the incident were also present in the courtroom, who in the previous session demanded justice for their friends.

The lawyer of the family of the victim Gani Gjokaj, Arianit Koci, also requested life imprisonment for the accused Halil, Kastriot and Kreshnik Mehmetaj.

“Everyone describes the same scene, that one person masked to stop the bus. It was proved that Gani raised his hands, as a sign of self-defense. The bullets did not only touch the bus, but it was proved that 157 bullets were found in the accused’s house, according to the indictment the accused should be given the heaviest punishment, life imprisonment”, said Koci.

He emphasized that this is the punishment that, in his opinion, gives meaning to justice.

“This is the punishment that gives meaning to justice”, he declared.

The wife of the deceased Gani Gjokaj has also requested the maximum sentence.

“I hope the maximum sentence is given”, she said.

Accordingly according to the indictment, the accused Halil, Kastriot and Kreshnik Mehmetaj allegedly carried out the attack with motives of revenge, in complicity and with prior agreement.

In the indictment it is said that the victim of the attack was the bus driver, now deceased Gani Gjokaj, as well as the two minor students L.H. (17) and G.M. (17).

Also, it is said that the defendant Halil Mehmetaj had earlier blamed Gjokaj for a family tragedy and had expressed intent to take revenge, considering him responsible for his daughter’s suicide.

In the indictment it is described that the defendant Kastriot Mehmetaj, armed with an AK-47 automatic weapon, is suspected of lying in wait and shooting in the direction of the bus, causing the death of three people and injuring another.

While, after the attack, the same is suspected to have left the scene with the help of accomplices, while the crime weapon was destroyed afterwards.
