According to the announcement of the Kosovo Police – Regional Police Directorate in Prizren, the case happened on July 5, 2026, around 11:00 p.m., on “Reshat Qoqaj” street, where the police received information about gunshots.

Immediately after receiving the information, police units went to the scene, identified the location and the suspect. During the police actions, the suspect admitted that he had fired a gun, stating that at that time a family joke was taking place.

The police announced that the suspect voluntarily surrendered a pistol, while two cartridges were also seized at the scene, which will serve as material evidence in the investigative procedure.

After the interview in the presence of the defense lawyer, by decision of the State Prosecutor, the suspect was detained for 48 hours. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against him for the offenses of “causing general danger” and “unauthorized possession, control or possession of weapons”.

The Kosovo Police has reiterated its appeal to citizens not to use firearms during holidays and family gatherings, stressing that such actions endanger the lives of citizens and violate public safety. The authorities call on all citizens to hold the celebrations responsibly and in accordance with the law.
