The Infectious Diseases Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK) informs the public that it is currently treating a situation of suspected food poisoning, where 31 patients have been hospitalized so far.
During July 13, 14 and 15, 2026, around 30 people sought emergency medical help at this clinic.
After detailed analyses. laboratory, 11 cases have tested positive for Salmonella Enteritidis bacteria.
The health team confirms that all hospitalized patients are receiving appropriate treatment and their condition is improving.
“Within these cases, during this three-day period, five patients from the municipality of Hani Elez with similar symptoms have been admitted. According to the patients’ own statements, the number of people who have consumed food in the same location and who are suspected to be have been poisoned is greater. The medical staff is conducting the necessary examinations and is constantly monitoring their condition, while intensive work is being done to identify the exact source of the infection.
From this clinic they have given some recommendations to citizens:
Avoid fast food: It is recommended to avoid the consumption of “fast food” products, especially during these days with high temperatures, as the heat favors the rapid multiplication of bacteria.
Seek medical help immediately: If after consuming the food you show symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, high fever or severe abdominal pain, go to the nearest medical center immediately.
The Infectious Diseases Clinic will continue to keep the public transparently informed of any new developments, as soon as the data is confirmed by the responsible epidemiological authorities.
