Displaced Lebanese families shelter in a school in Beirut amid ongoing Israeli attacks

Continuous Israeli attacks on Lebanon have forced many families from the Dahieh area south of Beirut to leave their homes and seek shelter in educational facilities, reports Anadolu.

Faced with a marked lack of safe shelters for civilians, displaced residents gathered at Hariri II High School.

Families have turned the campus into a makeshift camp, where some stay in classrooms, while others face difficult conditions in tents erected in the school yard.

Amidst efforts to survive in overcrowded spaces, local volunteers have stepped in to organize recreational activities. These efforts aim to create a sense of normalcy and ease the psychological impact of displacement on children.

Yesterday, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from Israeli attacks has risen to 1,142, while another 3,315 people have been injured.

The Israeli military has bombarded Lebanon with airstrikes and launched a ground offensive in the south of the country since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2.

The ongoing Israeli offensive on Lebanon comes at a time of heightened regional tensions since February 28, when the US and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran, killing more than 1,340 people, including then-supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has responded with waves of drone and missile attacks on Israel, Jordan, Iraq and the Gulf states. that house US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure, as well as disrupting global markets and aviation.
