Germany today demanded “clarifications” from Israel on the ill-treatment of German activists of the Gaza aid fleet, calling them “absolutely serious allegations”, reports Anadolu.

“The treatment of activists, including German citizens, as we learned only yesterday, is, in our opinion, also completely unacceptable. We unequivocally condemn this action and demand transparency in the investigation,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Josef Hinterseher, at a media conference in Berlin.

“From our perspective, the allegations that have been made are extremely serious and therefore we expect a full and transparent investigation,” he added.

Hinterseher said that eight German activists of the Gaza-bound Sumud Global Flotilla, who had also suffered injuries, landed in Istanbul on Thursday evening.

One person was hospitalized in Istanbul, according to the spokesman.
