Slovenia’s parliament on Friday elected Janez Jansan as prime minister, paving the way for the leader of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) to begin his fourth term in office, reports Anadolu.

Jansa secured the mandate to form the government after MPs voted 51 in favor and 36 against his appointment, the Slovenian News Agency (STA) reported.

He is expected to lead Slovenia’s 16th government after the cabinet is formed.

After the vote, Jansa vowed to respect the constitutional order and work for the country’s prosperity.

“…an important step towards a more successful and freer Slovenia,” he said, according to STA.

Speaking to reporters after the vote, Jansa said coalition talks on ministerial appointments will start on Monday and that he expects the new government to be sworn in within two weeks.
