Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz are “unacceptable”, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today, reports Anadolu.
“The situation in the Middle East is worrying and the conflict has a severe negative impact on the global economy and people’s lives”, Modi told parliament.
“India has opposed attacks on civilians and on energy and transport infrastructure. Attacks on commercial ships and disruptions in international waterways such as The Strait of Hormuz is unacceptable,” Modi said as Iran maintains control over the critical waterway.
The Strait of Hormuz has been at the center of global energy concerns since Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it would close it to most shipping in retaliation for US and Israeli attacks that began on February 28.
