The Commissioner for EU Enlargement, Marta Kos, has stated that Kosovo is part of a wider European picture and that there can be no security in Europe without its involvement.

In a joint press conference with the Prime Minister in office, Albin Kurti, she said that the EU enlargement process and the current developments in this direction were discussed.

“You are today at a critical moment. First, you are before the elections. The second is that, when we talked about the enlargement process from a wider perspective, what we are experiencing today in the enlargement process and, for the first time after the last enlargement in 2013, there are real prospects that in the coming years we will have new member states. This membership process has been pushed forward also because of the security aspect. There can be no security in Europe without Kosovo integral part of a bigger picture, the reason why today’s enlargement is much more than just enlargement. It has to do with security in Europe, regional cooperation and integration in the European Union,” she said.

Kos added that one of her main tasks is to support a stronger integration of Kosovo into the European Union.
