Mucunski at the meeting of the “Friends of the Western Balkans” group, emphasizes the importance of accelerating EU enlargement

At the invitation of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, Juraj Blanar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia, Timco Mucunski, participated today in the Ministerial Meeting of the “Friends of the Western Balkans” Group in Bratislava, reports Anadolu.

The “Friends of the Western Balkans” group consists of Italy, Austria, Greece, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia, and was formed in order to accelerate the process of acceptance and integration of the countries of the Western Balkans into the European Union.

At the meeting, views were exchanged on the current challenges of the enlargement policy in the current geopolitical context, strategic cooperation with the region, economic development and security. The discussions were dominated by the strong support for a new and strengthened dynamics of the accession process as well as the need for bold and strategic decisions towards the enlargement of the European Union.

In his speech, Mucunski emphasized the importance of accelerating the enlargement process, with a special focus on removing obstacles to unimpeded trade with the EU in the context of European regulations that slow down access to the internal market of Union.

He emphasized that the concept of gradual integration should be further improved with new initiatives that will enable more active participation of the countries of the region in the creation of European Union policies and will bring direct benefits to citizens.

At the same time, in his presentation, Minister Mucunski paid special attention to the European integration of the country, the Growth Plan and commitment to reforms as a precondition for the use of funds. new ones from the Union.

He also spoke about the importance of infrastructure projects, emphasizing that North Macedonia is a point of intersection of the Pan-European Corridors 8 and 10, which have considerable economic, security and geostrategic importance for the region and Europe.
