Narcotics and money laundering, 30 days of detention for the suspect

Wednesday, July 8th 2026

The decision was taken after the request of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, which requested his detention due to the risk that could affect the development of the criminal procedure.

According to the announcement of the Basic Court in Pristina, the Special Department approved the request of the Special Prosecution, while the judge of the preliminary procedure decided that A.H. be held in custody for 30 days.

In the justification of the decision, the court estimates that detention is the most appropriate measure given the nature of the criminal offenses for which the defendant is suspected.

“After holding the hearing, the court assessed that setting the measure of detention in this criminal case is an adequate measure, given that he is suspected of serious criminal offenses. If the defendant is released, can avoid the criminal procedure and can be elusive for the justice bodies. Also, he can destroy, hide or falsify evidence of the criminal offense, as well as obstruct the normal course of the procedure by influencing other persons who may be implicated in these actions”, according to the court’s announcement, reports Klankosova.tv.

A.H. is suspected of the criminal offenses “Participation or organization of an organized criminal group”, “Unauthorized purchase, possession, distribution and sale of narcotics, psychotropic and analogous substances”, as well as “Money laundering”, these offenses are sanctioned by the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo and the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism.

The court has announced that the decision is taken on the basis of well-founded suspicion and circumstances that, according to her, make detention necessary at this stage of the procedure.

“The judge of the preliminary procedure has approved the request of the Special Prosecution dated July 8, 2026 for the determination of the measure of detention, in which case the defendant A.H. has been assigned detention for a duration of 30 days”, it is stated in announcement.

Meanwhile, the Basic Court in Prishtina has announced that the parties dissatisfied with this ruling have the right to appeal to the Court of Appeal, through the Basic Court in Pristina.
