The hearing for the attack on the Ibër-Lepenci canal, the accused appear before the court

The accused Dragisha and Jovan Viqentijevic, as well as Igor Dimovic, who is being defended in freedom, have not accepted the guilt for the attack on November 29, 2024 in the canal of Ibër-Lepenci in Varaga of Zubin-Potoku.

The hearing against them was held on Thursday at the Basic Court in Pristina.

The three accused have declared before the court that they do not feel guilty of the charges they face.

Otherwise, according to the indictment of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, the brothers Dragisha and Jovan Viqentijevic, on November 29, 2024, at around 6:50 p.m., in the village of Varaga of the Municipality of Zubin-Potoku, planted explosives in the part of the Ibër-Lepenci canal, a public infrastructure that serves for the supply of drinking water and for the needs of the Corporation Energy of Kosovo for the production of electricity.

In the indictment filed by special prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu, it is stated that the accused, together with other as yet unidentified persons, after a prior agreement and with the aim of seriously intimidating the population and jeopardizing the constitutional order of the security of the Republic of Kosovo, have placed about 20 kilograms of Trinitrotoluene (TNT) explosives inside the canal.

According to the Prosecution, the explosives were placed in a bag tied with a rope to a concrete pillar, in order to cause serious damage to the critical water and electricity supply infrastructure.

The indictment says that the defendants activated the explosive by lighting a slow-burning fuse, causing a powerful explosion that severely damaged the concrete structure of the Ibër-Lepenci canal.

As a result of the explosion, according to the Prosecution, it was stopped the supply of drinking water to the citizens of several northern and central municipalities of Kosovo, the supply of water to KEK was obstructed and the production of electricity at the country level was endangered.

With these actions, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, the accused have caused a serious risk to the life and safety of the population, as well as damage to the state’s critical infrastructure. The material damage caused to the company Ibër-Lepenc is estimated at 376 thousand 774 euros and 70 cents.

They are accused of having committed the criminal offense of “Endangering the constitutional order by destroying or damaging public installations and equipment”, in connection with the criminal offense of “Committing a terrorist offense”, according to the relevant provisions of the Criminal Code of Kosovo.

In the second point of according to the indictment, the Viqentijević brothers are also accused of carrying weapons without a permit. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, during the checks carried out by the Kosovo Police in their houses in Zubin-Potok and in the village of Prevllak of this municipality, a significant amount of military weaponry was found and seized. /Eo
