Pep Guardiola has officially announced that he will leave the position of coach of Manchester City at the end of the season. The Spanish coach released a video on social media on Friday, just days before the final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Guardiola has been in charge of the Citizens since 2016 and has become the most successful manager in the club’s history, winning the UEFA Champions League, six Premier League titles and many other domestic trophies.

In the video released, Guardiola stated:

“More don’t ask me why I’m leaving. There is no particular reason.

But deep down, I know my time has come.”

According to reports, City are expected to appoint Enzo Maresca as his successor. The former Chelsea and Leicester City boss was previously part of Guardiola’s staff as an assistant manager at the Etihad Stadium.

However, Guardiola will not be leaving the club completely, as the 55-year-old also confirmed he will take on the role of Manchester City’s global ambassador.
