Another project announced for rural Northern Albania under extinction

Prime Minister Rama spoke in his podcast “Flasim” about the latest developments within the Mountain Package, emphasizing a new strategic project for the north of the country.

Also, according to Rama, an important element of the project is the preservation of the natural areas of intact, guaranteeing sustainable development.

“A note, which I believe is worth it, because in these weeks, in these months, there is talk about the Mountain Package. Of course, when I say talk, I mean not only what we say to inform the public and, above all, to inform those who look at it from outside Albania and want to invest their savings in the land of the ancestors or in the reconstruction of an old house of grandparents among the mountains, but also what is said by many who, as always and for everything, distorts, deviates and so on. But this is not the content of this note, but it is what is added to the Mountain Package as a project called ‘Porta e Alpe’, which constitutes a direct intervention with a massive investment of 100 million euros, co-financed with the European Investment Bank, for the further development of tourism, with a focus on tourism mountain.

It is a project that we have been working on for a long time, which aims to better connect the northern areas with each other and with the rest of the country, obviously by creating easy and sustainable accesses throughout the year. It includes the improvement of road and transport infrastructure, investments in water supply and waste water management are included, as well as interventions in urban development and the restoration of that rich historical heritage that exists in the area the north.

While, of course, the care to ensure, to guarantee all those wonderful parts of nature that must remain untouched, could not be left out of the project,” elaborated Rama.

However, the experience so far shows that not everything has gone the way Rama has conceived or advocated.

The word comes, there is no more talk about the “100 villages”, announced with fanfare nearly ten years ago. years, where the first implementation was Nivica in the heights of Kurvelesh in Tepelena.

Until now there is no balance sheet, no indication from the government of how this project went and what was achieved on the ground. /tesheshi
