Kosovo Police has raised the alarm about the increase in cases of fraud through telephone messages (SMS) in the Ferizaj region, calling on citizens to be careful about the protection of personal data and financial assets.
According to the announcement of the Regional Police Directorate in Ferizaj, many citizens have reported that they have received suspicious messages, warning that their bank accounts may be blocked if they do not take appropriate actions. immediately.
“A suspicious link is included in these messages, through which citizens are asked to provide personal and banking data. After their placement, unauthorized persons may have access to bank accounts and withdraw funds illegally”, the police announcement states.
The authorities have appealed to citizens not to click on unknown links received through SMS or emails and to never share sensitive information such as PIN-codes, passwords or verification codes.
The police also recalled that banks do not require updating of personal data through links sent by telephone messages. For any doubts or uncertainties, citizens are advised to contact their bank directly.
In case of suspected fraud, citizens should immediately notify the bank about blocking the account and report the case to the police.
