Beijing announced that this week the top diplomats of Belgium and Australia will visit China amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict that has hit global energy supplies, reports Anadolu.
The trips by Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong come at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Prevot will visit China from April 27 to May 1, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said. In a separate statement, the ministry said Wong is scheduled to visit China from April 28 to 30.
The foreign ministers’ visits to Beijing come at a time when a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran continues with no actual agreement to end the war.
The conflict launched by the US and Israel on February 28 has left Asian countries struggling to import oil from the East. Middle East, after Tehran and Washington have blocked the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway through which about 20 percent of global energy supplies flow.
