Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s testimony in the corruption trial was canceled just an hour before it was to begin on Monday, reports Anadolu.

According to Israeli media reports from the Israeli daily “Yedioth Ahronoth”, the cancellation was based on unspecified “security reasons” at the request of his lawyer, Amit Hadad.

Monday’s trial was scheduled after an extended break due to of war with Iran.

Netanyahu faces charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust in three cases known as Cases 1000, 2000 and 4000. Prosecutors filed charges in the cases in November 2019.

Case 4000 involves allegations that Netanyahu advanced regulatory rulings to benefit Shaul Elovitch, the former owner of the Walla news website and a former executive at the telecommunications company Bezeq, in exchange for positive coverage.

In addition to the corruption trial, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant in November 2024 against Netanyahu on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
