The US naval blockade against Iranian ports remains in effect, reports Anadolu.
Citing Iranian sailors, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that “the naval blockade is still in effect and ships are receiving stop and denied passage warnings from CENTCOM”.
For his part, a senior military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader accused Washington of “treason against diplomacy”.
“As expected, the American president is betraying diplomacy for the third time. By continuing the naval blockade and presenting excessive demands in negotiations, he has further proved that he is not ready to engage in talks and is pursuing other objectives”, wrote Mohsen Rezaei on the American social network X.
In a post yesterday on his social platform Truth Social, the American president, Donald Trump, said that Iran will be required to remove any remaining mines in the Strait of Hormuz, while the US would lift the naval blockade on ships entering or leaving Iranian ports.
“Vessels stranded in the strait by our extraordinary and unprecedented naval blockade, which will now be lifted, can begin the process of ‘coming home,'” he wrote. Trump.
Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran in February. Tehran retaliated with attacks on Israel and US allies in the Persian Gulf, as well as closing the Strait of Hormuz.
A cease-fire took effect on April 8 brokered by Pakistan and was later extended indefinitely by President Trump.
After negotiations brokered by Islamabad stalled, the US imposed a blockade on Iranian ports since April 13, including those along the Strait. Hormuz.
Mediation efforts continue to end the conflict between the parties.
