The world record in 50m freestyle swimming is broken

Cameron McEvoy has passed Cesar Cielo as the fastest man in the 50m freestyle in swimming.

The 31-year-old Australian ran a remarkable race, clocking 20.88 seconds at the China Open, which is being held in Shenzhen.

He improved by 0.03 seconds the world record of 20.91 seconds that Cielo had set last year. 2009, at the end of the era of polyurethane suits.

Polyurethane suits, introduced in the first decade of this century, brought a real “revolution” in swimming, leading to the setting of records one after another, writes Balkanweb.
