France calls for urgent UNSC meeting: Israeli advance in Lebanon is “extremely worrying”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noel Barrot, has stated that Israel’s military operations in Lebanon are “extremely worrying” and has announced that Paris has requested an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to address the situation, reports Anadolu.

Barrot told BFMTV that he had “requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council” focused on Israeli military operations in Lebanon.

“Nothing can justify the prolongation of military operations in Lebanon and the ever-deepening occupation of Lebanese territory,” Barrot said, calling the situation “extremely worrying.”

He added that Israel’s actions constitute “a big mistake.”

The comments reflect France’s growing concern about escalating regional tensions as Israel continues military activity beyond on its border with Lebanon.

Barrot also called on Iran and the US to reach an agreement to reduce tensions, saying that “the situation is unstable”. of freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remain under review, while planning work is at an advanced stage and discussions with Tehran and Washington continue.
