Donald Trump’s administration has decided to withdraw about 5,000 US troops from Germany, according to Pentagon officials.

The withdrawal includes a combat brigade and other units stationed on German soil. However, important medical bases, such as the one in Landstuhl, are not expected to be affected by this decision.

This step comes after tensions between Trump and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who had criticized the American position regarding the war with Iran. The decision also reflects Washington’s displeasure with European allies, who the US administration says have not contributed enough.
