US President, Donald Trump, has notified Congress that hostilities with Iran have ended, following the ceasefire that has been in effect since the beginning of April, reports Anadolu.
“On April 7, 2026, I ordered a two-week ceasefire. The ceasefire has since been extended. There has been no exchange of fire between US forces and Iran since April 7, 2026. Hostilities that began on February 28 2026 are over,” Trump wrote in separate letters to House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senator Chuck Grassley.
Friday marks 60 days since Trump formally notified Congress of military action. According to the War Powers Resolution, the president must seek authorization from Congress to continue hostilities beyond 60 days.
